Add a touch of vintage charm to your space with the Otto Keramik Ceramic Yellow/Black West German Fat Lava Animal Bull Small.

This unique piece has a bold yellow and black color scheme. It features the famous Fat Lava glaze, which was popular in mid-century West German ceramics. If you collect rare antiques or want to make your home more elegant, this Otto Keramik ceramic animal is a great choice. It will spark conversations. Don’t miss out on this exquisite piece of West German pottery history.

Otto Gerharz was the operations manager at Ruscha Keramik in 1951. He invented what we now call “Fat Lava Glaze.” He established his ceramic studio, “Otto Keramik,” in 1964.

Sadly, he passed away a few years ago. However, his son Otto Junior keeps his legacy alive. He still creates original designs made by his father, using the original molds and glazes.

Bay Keramik, also known as Bay Pottery, has a rich history. It is deeply connected to Germany’s ceramic tradition. It was founded in 1933 by Eduard Bay in Ransbach-Baumbach, a region known as Kannenbäckerland or “potters’ land”.

Initially, Bay produced utilitarian wares, such as unglazed terracotta cooking pots. By the 1950s, the company was one of the top names in West German art pottery. It was primarily known for its bold shapes and bright glazes. Designers like Bodo Mans helped shape Bay’s look. They introduced bold geometric patterns and rich textured surfaces.
